I was originally listening to a piece called The Village of Decay from the Master System version of Ghouls 'n' Ghosts and started with the "bones as a foundation" line, but then my mind went elsewhere into something I finished recently and loved muchly so, the Chzo point-click series by Ben Croshaw - [link] - and so this poem became an homage to this small but charmingly macabre quadrilogy. I hope you enjoy both my poem and the games.
